A change is gonna come

I am going to re-do these blogs...all of them. I don't want to rant publicly. There is no value in it...for me or for anyone else. I don't want to hear other people's opinion so I have no reason to believe they want to hear mine.

Stay tuned....I am looking to doing something positive in this space....and I want to do it right.

Standardizing Where We Live

HGTV has managed to make 300 million Americans all live in the same space. How? By preaching the gospel of what your space must look like. What are the odds of a nation of 300 million people having, primarily, a kitchen with stainless steel appliances, green or some variation of dark gray granite counter-tops and the walls painted yellow? It seems like every house I step into looks like the last one I just left.

Setting American Cuisine Back 50 Years

Rich people cooking with lots of fat and salt. This network has maybe one or two certified trained chefs - the rest,...... well. The Food Network is selling a lifestyle not real cooking. Every show ends with a group of high dollar friends sitting around a table laughing because the U.S. economy has hit everybody but them. Seriously, have you ever had a high fat meal with lots of salt that didn't taste good?

Where is this place?

Many of you have E-mailed me to tell me that you cannot leave a comment. After much research, Blogger left a message saying they are looking into the problem as many people have complained about it.

But, let me go a step further: You see, the problem began when Blogger decided to fix a problem that wasn't a problem. They created the new COMMENTS button to moderating a problem that wasn't a problem, so that now tens of thousand of bloggers can't receive comments.

Remember when Ma Bell, the nation's only telephone company existed? Remember when there were always operators to answer the phone when you called? Remember when no one on the planet had a problem with Ma Bell so the GOVERNMENT decided to step in and break it up and fix it?

Well, Blogger, your approach is very bureaucratic. Job well done. You should be proud of yourself. You must be the only private sector company in the world trying to be more like government. Don't keep up the good work.

NPR

No one reading this rant loves NPR more than I do. I mean that. Having lived in other nations and traveled many more, I can tell you that NPR is hard to beat. But, the recent debate throughout America about NPR's funding kind of made me stop and shake my head. I heard NPR's Ira Glass talking about the network not being biased (which it is - but, it has gotten much better) and that it still deserved the people's support. He was very determined and angry.

He left out a lot.

For instance, that NPR is funded on the local, state and national level (and please, don't any of you insult my intelligence by saying that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is not Federal money.)

But the main point that he left out is that NPR is no where in the constitution to demand funding. The nerve. The unpardonable arrogance. Where does he get off?

The American people - those people losing their homes and cars - are having NPR staff wagging their fingers at them because we braved to discuss funding game shows such as "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" or "Whad'ya Know?", etc.

Seriously, how do you justify telling a man that has lost his home to taxes that his taxes must continue to pay for NPR - especially when NPR spends thousands taking celebrities to the White House Correspondence Dinner?

Again, I love NPR. I will continue to make private donations, but I'll be damned if I will be told that I HAVE to do it.

It is amazing to me, that in these amazing times, special elections across the nation are receiving record low turnout. The world is on fire. Your damn community is on fire. Get involved or get really quiet. Come on people.
